Meeting of Important People is a rock-and-roll-type band from Pittsburgh, PA., led by songwriter and singer Josh Verbanets. The band's third full-length album, Troika (2016), and 2019 single “They Don’t Know Where They Might Find Me,” have gained acclaim from young and old alike for MOIP’s eclectic mix of pop, garage-rock, folk influence, and anthemic twists-and-turns.
Meeting of Important People’s debut single “Mothers Pay More” ignited a media and blogging frenzy in 2008, and their subsequent debut album on the Authentik label was named the top hometown release of 2009 by Pittsburgh radio station WYEP-FM. Follow-up EP releases Quit Music (2010) and 2nd full-length My Ears Are Having a Heart Attack! (2012) kept listeners at rapt attention with a unique mix of pleasant and creepy folk-rock and indie-pop anthems.
The band has recorded with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron&Wine), has starred in a heavily-viewed cardboard city music video, traveled extensively, and has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Ok Go, The Secret Machines, David Bazan, Flamin' Groovies, Eve6, Dar Williams, and Dean & Britta. Their debut album received vinyl re-release in 2011 by legendary garage label Get Hip, and many MOIP songs have been featured on E's KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS, MTV's TEEN MOM, THE REAL WORLD, and JERSEY SHORE, web series OFF-BRAND, and CBS' THE GHOST WHISPERER, among others-- if you listened hard enough.
MOIP promises to keep the loud parts loud, the pretty parts pretty, and the people happy.
