Eli Helman is a self-taught artist with an original style of ink drawings he calls Maximalist. Having an emphasis on tightly drawn lines and patterns to create an unyielding lack of empty space, his work embodies one of the many definitions of Maximalism -- to pack in as much as possible while drawing upon many different styles at once. After many years of studying music, traveling, and experimenting with pencil sketches, he transformed his style into large scale pen drawings using Micron pens on paper. Inspired by nature, music, humor, and history, he hopes viewers will find something new every time they gaze upon his work. Some pieces take over 100 hours to complete.
