Hand crafted wooden flowers. The artists cut their flowers from Basswood. Each flower is sculpted using various woodworking tools. They will use a lathe to create the round shapes of their flowers. They will get depth and various bending shapes using a spoke shave, foredom, and planer. Each tool will help create the realistic look of the flower. Once the petals are cut, the artists will use a steam and water technique to create the curl of the wood. This will allow the petal to bend in order to give the flower a sense of realism. After they have shaped our flower, they will use acrylic paints to bring the flower to life. Each flower is hand painted and coated with a wax to protect the paint. Hand turned Wooden Vases. With Dee's help in design, Michael brings the Maple vessels to life through his turnings. Each piece is turned on a lathe and finished with dyes, stains, or a combination of both. The pieces are contemporary to modern in design. They are a perfect compliment to the wooden flowers.
