A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "Cast Lead Crystal and Silver Jewelry. To make our pieces, we use the lost wax casting method. Pate De Verre. All designs are hand carved by us in wax then molded. When the mold is set, we melt the wax out, leaving a perfect cavity for our material to be poured into. Our glass is kiln cast. All of our pieces are a one-time mold. The lead crystal and silver are cast separately, we fix them together using a clear epoxy. When the lead crystal comes out of the kiln, we grind the backs flat and sandblast the front. We cast the silver (using centrifugal arm caster), and it then goes through many stages of filing and polishing to bring it to a high shine. The lead crystal is fully backed by the silver to give a unique glow in all light sources. "
