A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "Inspired by the Japanese National Treasure, Sojji Hamada, a potter, I design, and form hand built, and wheel thrown functional pieces, using both porcelain and stoneware clay. As decoration, I use sgraffito, colored slips, and imprints (ocean shells, found objects, antiques wood carvings, and Japanese wooden carved molds. I strive not only for functionality, but also for pieces that are esthetically pleasing to the eye."
