A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "Handmade baskets are a tradition that has been passed on from my mother at early age. My baskets are made with two main sustainable raw materials; sisal fibers and sweet grass. The weaving process starts by extracting fibers from the sisal plant, the fibers are hung to dry in the sun and dyed to achieve different colors. Sisal fibers are then wrapped around sweet grass in a coil process alternating color to create different patterns."
