A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "I make handcrafted, highly detailed, wood maps -- bridging data and art through cartography. I collect elevation data that I sort through and meticulously translate into patterns. Each layer is cut out as a separate piece that I then carefully assemble and finish by hand. I try to work with environmentally friendly and natural materials as much as possible - including maple and cherry wood, 100% wool felt, and cork. Felt is used to highlight greenery such as parks, and cork promotes interaction and engagement with the map with accessories like landmark pins. Some of my most recent and popular pieces are map puzzles. I make each one so they can be both satisfying as the pieces slot together, and educational as they promote a new perspective"
