A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "A Pittsburgh native, I draw directly from life and focus on our unique topography, old buildings, their quaint details, and the interesting vistas these make for in creating our unique neighborhoods. Rather than focus on the Pittsburgh landmarks, like the downtown skyline and views of inclines and Mt. Washington, I prefer to focus on the things that really feel Pittsburgh to me: a brick alley with a church looming over it in Bloomfield; a Victorian with a wrap around porch and shade trees in Friendship. In addition to my cityscapes, I draw portraits from life, which I have offered at the last two festivals alongside my works. In 5-10 minutes, I draw a real portrait, not a caricature. There has been a great response to these by the visitors."
