A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "I paint landscape paintings, primary in plein air. Pittsburgh has been a major focus of mine. I apply my paints in an impasto style, typically thicker layers of paint, to my painting surface. The paints that I use are Artist oil paints. I currently use Gamblins solvent free products for the purpose to reducing toxicity in my process, as well as poppy and Gamisol for cleaning. I have also removed cadmium from my pallet. The surfaces that I paint on are Blick cedar panels, which come backed by 1' x 1' wooden strips, which allows for easier hanging/ framing, and reduces warping. For larger pieces, I will sometimes use canvas. I have many of my works frames by a frame maker in Pittsburgh."
