A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE: "I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember! Holding a BFA and a MFA, I have always taken art as the central focus in my life. I am grateful to painting as it is my pursuit and my way of life. My works cover still life, landscape and custom portrait. My goal as a representational painter is to attempt to reflect the beauty and mystery of the things I paint and also present the interaction between them. Beginning with my initial choice of objects, to the placement of those articles, to the management of light and shadow , I try to establish a balanced composition of shape and color, contrast and depth. I attempt to use light to sculpt and emphasize color, texture and space, and to foster a feeling of air from within."
