Artist Statement on Material & Technique: "I am an artist and illustrator who uses acrylics in a painter manner to create works which blend and comment on pop culture, history, politics and religion. I blend classic portrait painting with modern pop art and illustration techniques to create whimsical yet edgy images. Most of my works are done on high quality gallery style wood panels covered with several layers of gesso. I build up translucent colors through a series of layers employing glazing, stumbling, and as well as thicker layers mimicking oil paints. The genre of work which my paintings are linked to is NeoPop Surrealism. One of my ongoing series which is always displayed depicts Iconic Figures with tattoos. These figure are from history, religion, & popular culture."
