Artist Statement on Material & Technique: "My jewelry consists of copper, sterling & fine silver. To create my "fire painted" jewelry, I use a torch on a jewelry grade copper sheet in a 11-step hot/cold process I have developed over 15 years. I use flame to bring out glorious patterns & luminous hues. No patinas are used to obtain my colors. I search each fire painted sheet to select my shapes/designs and hand cut these mini "fire paintings" using a jeweler's saw or shears to create my jewelry. I also incorporate semi-precious gemstones that I bezel set in fine silver to compliment the piece. I implement hot/cold metal-smithing techniques such as soldering, forging, bezel setting, riveting, wire-wrapping & fusing as well as my fire painting process. No two pieces are ever alike."
