Artist Statement on Material & Technique: "I create handmade op art prints on high-quality paper from 3” square hand-carved blocks which fit together in a myriad of ways. My prints range from card-sized (4”x6”) to poster-sized (24”x36”) to large-scale (60”x60”). My process uses individual blocks to create stunning tessellations. All blocks work together, allowing for the creation of intricate patterns that are far more complex than any single block. Each print is a handmade original that requires up to 350 individual prints. My designs are based on indigenous art from my Cuban, Colombian, and Palestinian heritage. I bring my artistic sensibility to create intricate high quality original pattern prints. With accuracy and control, I create elaborate patterns that keep the eye moving."
